Free Pattern: Number One Applique (3 inches)


Find the rest of the numbers here.

This number one is made by sewing the top part to the bottom part.  You could simplify it by leaving off the bottom, if you want.

Don't worry if your finished number looks a little uneven - when you sew it on, you will be able to make it look how you want.



Supplies:
Worsted weight yarn
5mm hook

Abbreviations:
Sc - single crochet
Ch - chain

Top:
Chain 13
Listed one line per stitch, starting with second ch from hook
Sc
Sc

Sc
Sc
Sc
Sc
Sc
Sc
Sc
Sc
Sc
Sc
Finish off.

Top in other words: Sc in first three ch.  In fourth ch, 3 sc.  Sc in last 9 ch.  Finish off with a long tail for sewing.

Bottom:
Chain 8
Starting in second ch from hook, sc in each ch across.  (8 sc)  Finish off with a long tail for sewing.

Finishing:  Using the tail from the top part, sew the bottom part to the top part.  Weave in all ends except the long tail from the bottom part.  Using the tail from the bottom part, sew applique onto your work.
