Free Pattern: Baby Washcloths
I learned this stitch pattern from The Crochet Stitch Bible. So gentle and soft, this beautiful baby washcloth is perfect for the newest addition in your life.
It measures almost square - about 7" by 6.5"

Free Pattern: Makeup Remover Pads
I've been making a zillion of these lately. I ran out of cotton pads for my makeup remover and toner, and I had a bunch of cotton yarn, so I thought I'd save a tree (or some cotton plants) and make some re-useables.
These would also be a great gift, paired with some pretty soap or a few washcloths.

Free Pattern: Egg Bowl Photography Prop
This is a photo prop that stretches around baby, either on his back with legs sticking out or on his side. The basic idea: make a flat circle, build up the sides, add a decorative edge. I used an up-and-down stitch on the sides and a slip-stitch edging. You could easily substitute another stitch design for the sides or another edging to make it unique.
If you're using another weight of yarn, the bowl bottom should be about 16" when stretched. Be sure to crochet loosely, whatever yarn you use, because this should be a stretchy prop.

Free Pattern: Baby Earflap Hat - Newborn
NOTE: In an effort to standardize my hat sizes, I revamped this pattern. This one should fit newborns a little better. I am keeping the old version available here, in case anyone still wants access to it.

Free Pattern: Earflap Hat Newborn Old Version
NOTE: In an effort to standardize my hat sizes, I revamped this pattern. The new version is here. I am keeping the old version available, in case anyone still wants access to it.
This hat will keep those tiny ears toasty! It would be adorable for newborn photos.

Craft Tutorial: Button Rattle Baby Toy
When my #1 got interested in my keys, I made my first version of this, with a rattling whistle, a jingle bell and beads of different shapes and sizes. With similar appeal to (but less germs than) my keys, this was my substitute.
Also, #1 didn't get her fine motor skills as fast as some babies, so it was hard for her to hold many rattles. This toy is much lighter than many store-bought toys, and the string construction makes it easy for babies like her, with less-developed fine motor skills, to grasp. It was her favorite toy for a couple of months - one of my proudest crafting moments. :)
