Free Pattern: Makeup Remover Pads
I've been making a zillion of these lately. I ran out of cotton pads for my makeup remover and toner, and I had a bunch of cotton yarn, so I thought I'd save a tree (or some cotton plants) and make some re-useables.
These would also be a great gift, paired with some pretty soap or a few washcloths.
Materials:
5.5mm (I/9) hook
Small amount of worsted weight cotton yarn
Abbreviations:
Ch - chain
Dc - double crochet
Instructions:
Round 1: Magic Ring, ch 3. 12 dc inside ring, pull tight to close. Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3.
Round 2: Ch 3. 2 dc in each dc around (24 dc). Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3. Finish off (I used invisible finish), weave in ends.
Repeat!
To wash, just throw them in with the towels. Mine came out all accounted for. You could also use a small laundry bag.

Do you wash these straight in the washing machine or do you put them in a laundry bag to wash?
ReplyDeleteMark, you can do either! When I put them straight in the machine, none of them got lost.
ReplyDeletewhat a great idea! thanks for sharing that. You could make them in any colour too.... Would maybe also be great for a facial peeling if made in a more robust cotton...
ReplyDeleteWow, what a fab blog you've got, I can't believe I've only just found you! Thanks for the great patterns.
ReplyDeleteLove those pads! Thanks for sharing the pattern, such a cute idea!!!
ReplyDeleteLove this! I just made my own squares from washcloths but I love the crochet idea!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing!! I cannot wait to make them. Thank you so much for a fantastic blog and for sharing so many patterns!!
ReplyDeleteHello, I love your blog, I just found it and love all the patterns you have up. I do have a question about the magic ring! I have never seen this before and I am not quite sure what I am doing! Is there a specific amount of stitches I am suppose to put in the ring before I close it off? everything I have seen just says to do somewhere between 6-12.
ReplyDeleteThe ring is the technique... the amount of stitches you put into it are specified in the pattern in Round 1. So, in this pattern, you dc 12 inside the ring.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, so simple & I even put my own twist on it & added some bobbles to make it a "Nubby Scrubbie" :)
ReplyDeleteSo happy I found this! Now I don't feel the guilt associated with running through bag after bag of cotton disposables from the dollar store. :)
ReplyDeleteHi, thanks for this pattern. On round 1, does the ch 3 count as the first dc? for instance, do I ch 3, then do 11 dc? or do I ch 3 and then do the 12 dc? Thanks! --- Donna Jo
