Free Pattern: Deeply Textured Hat - 9-12 months




This is a modification of the pattern from The Laughing Willow.  For adult size, see her original post.

Supplies:
Worsted weight yarn (I used "I Love This Cotton")
Size 4.75mm hook
Opt tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Abbreviations:
Ch - chain
Dc - double crochet
Fptc - front post triple crochet
Sl st - slip stitch

Instructions: (ch-3 does not count as dc)
Round 1: Magic Ring, ch 3.  Inside ring, dc 10.  Pull ring tight, join to top ch of ch 3
Round 2: Ch 3, 2 dc each dc around.  Join to top ch of ch 3. (20 dc)
Round 3: Ch 3.  *2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc.  Repeat from * around.  Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3. (30 dc)
Round 4: Ch 3.  *2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc.  Repeat from * around.  Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3.  (40)
Round 5: Ch 3.  *2 dc in next dc,  dc in next 3 dc.  Repeat from * around.  Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3. (50 dc)
Round 6: Ch 3.  *2 dc in next dc, dc in next 9 dc.  Repeat from * around.  Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3. (55 dc)
Round 7: Ch 3.  *Fptc on next dc, dc in next dc.  Repeat from * around.  Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3. (28 fptc, 27 dc)
Round 8: Ch 3.  *Dc in next fptc, fptc on next dc.  Repeat from * around.  Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3.  (28 dc, 27 fptc.)
Round 9: Ch 3.  *Fptc on next dc, dc in next fptc.  Repeat from * around.  Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3. (28 fptc, 27 dc)
Rounds 10-12:  Repeat Rounds 8-9.  Finish off, weave in ends.

I changed colors each round, starting at round 7.  I did not finish off each time.



Decoration:
Magic ring, ch 3.  12 dc inside ring, pull ring tight, join to top ch of ch 3 w sl st.
I used a tapestry needle and a piece of red yarn to make the star, and sewed the circle on to the hat.

  4. Excellent pattern! Thank you so much. :) I just finished making this with a light green & light blue for the hat. Came out beautifully. It actually feels cushy and comfy.. I think this (and a few of your other patterns) are easy and creative to make. I enjoy making them. Thanks again.. ^_^
