  2. I love all your patterns! This is adorable and is next on my list. May I ask where you got those awesome buttons....they are so cute. Sorry but I have another question...If I wanted to make these for my 1 yr and 3 year old would I just add more rows in the 6-8 section or would I need to add more rounds to the whole pattern?

    Thanks Ashley @ Thereisnoplacelikehomemade

  5. I get most of my buttons (including the brown one from this hat) from Super Walmart. Nice and cheap. :)
To increase the size, check out the "Size Information" link at the top of the blog.

  7. Can you explain "forward/backward post dc"? I already have to invert (inside out) all the hats due to being left handed...they match your pictures that way. :) BTW, the kids earflap hat turned out awesome (I made it with the changes you listed for a larger head...it fits me and my huge headed 2 year old. :)

  8. It's front and back post dc. It just refers to which side of the dc you are post-stitching. You could also think of it as right side post dc and wrong side post dc. You can google front post dc or back post dc and it will come up with explanations and videos. It doesn't matter which you start with, as long as you go every other, then switch on the next row so that you go on the outside of the outside ones and the inside of the inside ones. Does that make sense?

  9. Hi just visited your site a few days ago & love it. I haven't crocheted for many years and made the lil beanie hat last night... so cute. I made the flap over tonight and somethings not right. The flap seems to be in an odd place. Any help???

  10. Thanks Alli! I made one and it was awesome...gave it as a gift & it was a huge hit. Now I'm making another and having trouble...i've reworked the first 3 or 4 rows 3 times and I keep coming up with several extra stiTches when I have to do the 7 dc. Thoughts? How many stitches should I have at the end of the first and second rows? I think I might be getting extra stitches everytime I chain three...

    2. Did your turn at the end of Row 9: Ch 8. Dc in 3rd ch from hook. Dc in the next 5 chs. It says your will be working in the opposite direction but does not say to turn. Thanks

  11. Hello from WV! I really enjoy your patterns. With this one; however, it would be really helpful to have a stitch count at the end of each round. Its a little confusing, because the chain 3 doesn't count as Dc. Thanks again for sharing your patterns. The work up so quick, and they're so cute when their done!

  12. Reporting back to say I figured it out after starting the whole hat over another day...I realized I'd been using the chain 3 has a double crochet. Ooops. I also changed the pattern to use with a flower by skipping the "flap" part and just continued going around with the pattern. Looks super cute for a girl. Thanks for all the great patterns Alli!!

  15. Hi this is super cute :)
I have one question? What ply yarn did you use?

  16. Hi again.I'm kind of confused on round 1?

  17. Do you turn at the end of Row 9: Ch 8. Dc in 3rd ch from hook. Dc in the next 5 chs. It says your will be working in the opposite direction but does not say to turn. Thanks

  18. When I say, "Dc in 3rd ch from hook," that will be a turn. Because you can't do that and still go in the same direction.

  20. What is the size of this? I am almost done with it but confused with my finish size! Please help out thanks :)

  21. I really need help with the size. Mine is turning out to be a 13" head circumference and around 6" lenght. Actually I am using a different yarn for the top and different yarn for the last 4 rows. They vary in color and also in thickness. I worried about the circumference. what shall I do?

    1. If you are using a different yarn, then the circumference will come out different. Check the measurements in the tab at the top of the blog, and if the measurements are too big, you can take out some of the increases. If it's too small, you can add another row of increases.

    2. Thanks :)
Like if my measurement is coming 13' instead of 15" what should I do with my 5th and 6th row?

    3. I would follow the pattern for the 6 month size.

    4. Thanks I will try doing that :)
