Free Pattern: Washcloth or Dishcloth-Size 3 Thread
My mom goes through more dishcloths and dishtowels than anyone I know! Because I knew she'd use it so much, I wanted to make her a special one for Christmas. I'd made a dishcloth with cotton yarn before, but it turned out too clunky for me. By using two strands of size 3 cotton thread, it worked up just as fast as yarn, but it is much more flexible and absorbent, and it dries quicker than if I'd used cotton yarn. I definitely won't go back!
Supplies:
Two balls size 3 crochet thread
4.25mm (G/6) hook, 3.5mm (E/4) hook
Abbreviations:
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
Instructions:
Holding two strands of thread together, using a G hook, ch 35.
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook. Dc in next ch. *Sc in next ch, dc in next ch; repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2-28: *Sc in next dc, dc in next sc; repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn.
At the end of Row 28, finish off. Weave in ends.
Border:
Round 1: Attach one strand of thread with a sl st, using an E hook, sc around each side, 3 sc on each corner. Join with a sl st, ch 1.
Round 2: *Skip one sc, 5 dc in next sc, skip one sc, sl st in next sc. Repeat frorm * around. Finish off, weave in ends.

Alli, thanks for this gift. It is the best washing wash cloth we have. It took 2 weeks for our automatic dish washer to get fixed and I fell in love with this dish cloth. It works very, very well. Far superior to anything I have ever used in my 50 years!
