Free Pattern: Chunky Yarn Newborn Hat



Supplies: Small amount of chunky weight yarn. (I used the remainder of the skein I used to make the stork pouch photography prop.)
Size 6mm (J/10) hook

Abbreviations:
Ch – chain
Sl st – slip stitch
Dc – double crochet
Sc – single crochet

Instructions:
(ch-3 does not count as dc)
Round 1: Magic Ring, 10 dc in ring.  Pull ring tight.  Join to first dc with a sl st, ch 2.
Round 2: 2 dc in each st around (20 dc), join to ch 2 sp with sl st, ch 2.
Round 3: *2 dc, dc, dc, dc* repeat from * around (25 dc). Join to ch 2 with sl st, ch 2.
Rounds 4-7: Dc around (25 dc)
Round 8: Sc around (25 sc). Finish off, weave in ends.


This hat is meant to stretch.  It should be about 12" in diameter and 5" from top to bottom

  5. Use the six month fuzzy bear hat pattern and leave off the ears. You can find it in the labels under 6-month.

  8. Hi Alli I have a question. When I finish row 4 I come to the chain 2 from row 3. Do I make a slip stitch to connect and then chain 2 like the end of row 3? If I just try to do a straight DC I have a big hole. Thanks for helping the handicapped!
