Free Pattern: Beanie with Crossed Texture Detail Row - 6 months

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and I hope you're looking forward to a wonderful new year!  Here's a happy winter hat with a sweet textured detail row.



Supplies:
Worsted Weight yarn
Size 5mm hook
Opt tapestry needle for weaving in

Abbreviations:
Ch - chain
Dc - double crochet
Sl st - slip stitch

Special stitch:
Crossed Dc - Dc in the second dc from hook.  Dc in the skipped dc.  (You may want to put a stitch marker in the top ch of this row so you can find it for the join at the end.)



Instructions:
Round 1: Magic Ring, ch 3.  10 dc inside ring.  Pull ring tight to close.   Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3.
Round 2: Ch 3.  2 dc in each dc.   Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3.  (20 dc)
Round 3: Ch 3.  *2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc.  Repeat from * around.  Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3.  (30 dc)
Round 4: Ch 3.  *2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc.  Repeat from * around.  Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3.  (40 dc)
Round 5: Ch 3.  *2 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc.  Repeat from * around.  Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3.  (50 dc)
Round 5 - 10: Ch 3.  Dc in each dc around.  Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3. (50 dc)
Round 11: Ch 3. Crossed dc around (Don't cross back over the chain). Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3. (25 pairs crossed dc)
Round 12: Ch 3.  Dc around. Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3. (50 dc)
Round 13: Ch 1. Sc around.  Join to first sc.  Finish off, weave in ends.

  3. If I wanted to make a hat for a 12 month baby how would I increase the size please. I've made lots of your baby hats but I need a bigger size now. I love your patterns they are so easyto do x

    1. Use either the earflap hat pattern (you can google allicrafts earflap hat if it's hard to find on this site) in 9-12 month size, or the toddler size if the baby has a big head, leave off the earflaps and use the technique for round 11 to make the detail round a round or two lower.
