Free Pattern: Vertical Stripes Beanie - 6 months

This hat is a worsted-weight copy of this hat.  I think it turned out really sweet.  It would be a great boy hat, too, especially in a color like this one.


Supplies:

Worsted weight yarn (I used Bernat cotton)
5mm hook
Opt tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Abbreviations:
Ch - chain
Dc - double crochet
Sl st - slip stitch
Fpdc - front post double crochet

Instructions:
Round 1: Magic Ring, ch 3. Inside ring, 10 dc. Pull ring tight, join with a sl st to top ch of ch 3.
Round 2: Ch 3. In each dc around [dc, fpdc].  (10 dc, 10 fpdc) Join with a sl st to top ch of ch 3.
Round 3: Ch 3. *2 dc in dc. Fpdc in fpdc. Repeat from * around.  (20 dc, 10 fpdc) Join with a sl st to top ch of ch 3.
Round 4: Ch 3. *2 dc in first dc, dc in next dc. Fpdc in fpdc. Repeat from * around.  (30 dc, 10 fpdc) Join with a sl st to top ch of ch 3.
Round 5: Ch 3.  *2 dc in first dc, dc in next 2 dc.  Fpdc in fpdc. Repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to top ch of ch 3.  (40 dc, 10 fpdc)
Round 6-13: Ch 3. Dc in each dc, fpdc in each fpdc.  (40 dc, 10 fpdc) Join with a sl st to top ch of ch 3.
Round 14: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. (50 sc) Join with a sl st to top ch of ch 3.  Finish off, weave in ends.

For the decoration, I used these two flower patterns, big and small, stacked them and sewed a button in the center.  Then I mounted it on a clip, like this.
