Free Pattern: Beanie with Crossed Texture Detail Row - 3 Months



An adorable live model for this one.  Introducing baby #3!  She is about 14 pounds.  For the picture of her, I added a small open no-sew rose.

Supplies:
Worsted Weight yarn (I used 'I Love This Cotton' yellow and pink)
Size 5mm hook
Opt tapestry needle for weaving in

Abbreviations:
Ch - chain
Dc - double crochet
Sl st - slip stitch

Special stitch:
Crossed Dc - Dc in the second dc from hook.  Dc in the skipped dc.  (You may want to put a stitch marker in the top ch of this row so you can find it for the join at the end.)



Instructions:  (I changed to pink for row 9, back to yellow for row 10, to pink again for row 11, then to yellow again for row 12.)
Round 1: Magic Ring, ch 3.  10 dc inside ring.  Pull ring tight to close.   Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3.
Round 2: Ch 3.  2 dc in each dc.   Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3.  (20 dc)
Round 3: Ch 3.  *2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc.  Repeat from * around.  Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3.  (30 dc)
Round 4: Ch 3.  *2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc.  Repeat from * around.  Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3.  (40 dc)
Round 5: Ch 3.  *2 dc in next dc, dc in next 7 dc.  Repeat from * around.  Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3.  (45 dc)
Round 5 - 9: Ch 3.  Dc in each dc around.  Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3. (45 dc)
Round 10: Ch 3. Crossed dc around. (Cross back over the ch 3 to start) Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3. (23 pairs crossed dc)
Round 11: Ch 3.  Dc around. Join with sl st to top ch of ch 3. (46 dc)
Round 12: Ch 1. Sc around.  Join to first sc.  Finish off, weave in ends.

  1. You may notice that a round is missing in the hat pictured. Yep. But the size will be a truer 3 months if you go with the directions as written.

    1. if u look through the pattern u hv round 5 then round 5 to 9??...so i skipped to 6 to 9 instead...just how long should the hat be??

  5. Adorable!!! Congrats on the new baby girl, I have 5 daughters myself, 18, 12, 10, 7 & 22 months... & 1 new granddaughter that is 3 months.... They are absolutely PRECIOUS!!! The hat is also gorgeous! Thanks so much for sharing!

  10. This is a very cute hat. I love the crossed stitch. I wanted to let you know that there is a typo though. I think your Round 5-9 should be 6-9 and it should be 45 st in those rows to match the Round 5 above. At least that's how I made it. Thanks for the patterns!
