Free Pattern: 2-Inch 5-Petal Cluster Flower Applique

 
I made this flower for the stretchy baby headband.  I like how rounded the tops of the petals turned out.


Supplies:
Worsted weight yarn (to make the flower approx 2 inches.  You can use any other weight yarn to make it bigger or smaller)
Hook size called for
Opt yarn needle to sew on.

Abbreviations:
Ch - chain
Sl st - slip stitch
Dc - double crochet

Special Stitch:
Cluster - Make a dc within one step of completion (2 loops on hook).  Make two more (4 loops on hook).  YO, pull through all 4 loops on hook.


Instructions:
Magic Ring.  Inside ring *Ch 2.  Cluster.  Ch 2, sl st.  Repeat from * 4 times.  Sl st to magic ring, finish off.  Pull magic ring tight.  Use tails to sew flower on.

  1. another idea for stretch-ability is use "hat elastic" which is really just the thread you use for children's necklaces to string beads on. What I use is Stretch Magic 1.5 mm bead & jewelry cord

  2. oops, I forgot to say I just thread it through the headband or bottom of a hat with a blunt needle and tie it to make it a little snugger.
