  5. You can't really get it to stick straight out with crochet... you can get close by starting in the outside loop, doing scs across as wide as you want your brim, then decreasing on the sides of each row.

  6. I made this hat and it's great- except it fits me perfectly and not a three month old! I made it and then realized it was twenty times too big for a baby. I used a 5.mm hook and baby yarn... Do you have any idea why it turned out like that? But it's fine, I made it into a hat for myself by adding a few more rows! :) Thanks for the pattern-- it's great!

  7. Sorry, Sarah, I have no idea what you did wrong. I would double check to make sure you are following the pattern if you try it again. Count your stitches each row. If you are using baby yarn (sport or baby weight) it should come out smaller than 3-month size.

  8. Is there any chance you can tell me how to make this pattern bigger? I'm making it right now for my baby but would love to make it for my 3 yr old and 10 yr old too!
Also, any advice on a girls edging you would add to it?
    Thanks so much!

  9. This is a hard pattern to adjust, so you can either wing it and keep increasing slowly, or you can just do one color for the top in all dcs, using an all dc pattern, then when you are done increasing, start with an sc row and alternate, subbing 2 sc rows for a dc row. So if the pattern calls for 6 dc rows around, do 9 rows of alternating sc and dc.

An easy girl edging is skip a st, 5 dc, skip a dc, sl st. Repeat around.

  10. Thanks so much for posting this - I have just started crocheting and found this really easy to follow.
I keep adding extra stitches by mistake :), but I'm still happy with how it has turned out (just used one colour for my first one). I'll keep practising and I'm sure I'll get it!
