I saw a little helmet like this on Pinterest, and I loved it. I didn't see a pattern online for it, so I whipped one up. All the preseason football playing in our house put me in the mood!
The final round of scs is really important to make the earflaps nice and round, so don't be tempted to skip it!

So adorable. Isn't Pinterest great for inspiration?
ReplyDeletedo you have a toddler size pattern?
ReplyDeleteIt would be simple to increase the size for a toddler (see size information), but you would also have to increase the size of the earflaps. Just add a few more stitches to the initial earflap and follow the same pattern of decreases as found in this pattern. Hope that helps.

I am having problems with the Magic Ring. Do we chain 3 and SS to form the ring? I am not clear on how to make the Magic Ring.
ReplyDeleteIf you click on the words, "Magic Ring," it will take you to a blog post that explains the technique in detail with lots of pictures.
ReplyDeleteFound this pattern via pinterest :) Love this pattern. I am your newest follower.

ReplyDeleteYou are awesome!! I've been looking for this pattern too! thanks for posting it <3
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for ALL your amazing patterns! They are always my favorite finds! Thank you so much for sharing your talent, it's much much appreciated :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! Working on it right now, but what exactly does it mean when it says, "Work 2 scs into each side of Row 3 and in center dc of Row 3"? I love this pattern! I also like how all your patterns are free. Thanks again!!!
ReplyDeleteYou have to sc down the sides of the rows of the flap, so I was just saying that to "turn the corner" to the bottom and back up the other side, you will do 2 scs in the outside of the bottom row, sc once in the first dc in the row, do 2 scs in the middle dc in the row, sc once in the last dc in the row, then do 2 scs in the side of the bottom row before. Does that make any more sense?
ReplyDeleteYes, I think that does make more sense. I'm not quite to that part yet, so I'll let you know if I have any more questions. :) Also, any possibility that you could work on a pattern for a Kindle sleeve? Thank you! :)
DeleteOh, one more thing...:) I just finished the main hat part, and are you supposed to fasten it off before going on to the earflaps? From what I could tell you're supposed to. Just let me know. :)
DeleteYes, you do finish off. I updated the instructions. :)
DeleteOk, thanks! I have one last question-what exactly does it mean to attach the yarn? I've done patterns that ask you to do this before, but don't know if I'm doing it right... Thanks for putting up with all my questions! Sorry there are so many!
DeleteSince you're not attaching a new yarn mid-stitch, you just hold the end of the yarn and pull a loop through the stitch indicated. Then you make your chains from there.
DeleteSorry, that comment below is mine. I forgot to hit reply. So is what I said in the below comment correct? Looking forward to seeing the finished product!
DeleteSo basically I'm taking the yarn and pulling a strand through the back of the stitch? Thank you very much!
ReplyDeleteYes, I think so. You stick your hook through the stitch and grab the yarn, then chain around the stitch.
DeleteThis is the cutest thing ever!
ReplyDeleteThe best number patterns on the web !!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!
